Thanks for checking out the website, and welcome to Move Well Chiropractic’s first blog!  This is a brief introduction letting you know where Move Well Chiropractic is located, the hours of business, what we do, and what to expect from your first treatment.

Location

Move Well Chiropractic is located at 3/582 Logan Road, Greenslopes, nestled between Greenslopes Dental and the Vein Clinic.  We are actually on the corner of Logan Road and Douglas Street.  There’s a carpark at the front of the premises, with parking also available on Douglas Street

What happens during a consultation?

So what exactly does Michael do?  Before the first treatment, an online questionnaire is emailed. This helps better focus the face to face ‘history-taking’.  Following the ‘history-taking’, a  thorough physical exam is conducted.  This isn’t as scary as it sounds, but it is important because we want to make sure what we are doing is right for you and your complaint.  Then we will discuss what we’ve found and a way forward.

Depending on what you’re comfortable with, this may include chiropractic adjustments and/or joint mobilisations, some form of targeted soft tissue therapy, (for example myofascial releases, different resistive stretching protocols, etc), and/or dry needling. If it’s a disc problem or similar, we may suggest spinal decompression/ traction.  Or, if its a tendonitis/ tendinopathy type complaint, we may suggest shockwave therapy.  The first consultation generally lasts about 30 minutes, with follow-ups lasting around 15 minutes (or 30 minutes if we are combing a few different modalities).

Generally, with some exceptions, the first few treatments are aimed at improving your mobility.  Often this is enough to get you out of pain and Moving Well so you can get back to doing what you love.  However, if you’ve condition is chronic or a more complex complaint, we will likely coach you through some rehabilitation exercises.  This will help you keep your mobility gains in between visits and eventually allow you to self-manage your complaint.  And yes, we’ve got HICAPs so you can swipe your health fund card!
